Project: JE James, Barnsley

JE James, a renowned cycling retailer in Barnsley, occupied a historic building with original sash windows that, while charming, posed challenges in terms of thermal insulation and noise ingress. To preserve the building’s character while improving its energy efficiency and comfort, the management opted for the installation of secondary glazing. Our team was selected to design and install bespoke secondary glazing solutions that would meet these requirements.

We initiated the project with a detailed survey of the existing windows to ensure that the secondary glazing units would fit perfectly without compromising the architectural integrity of the building. Working closely with the client, we designed discreet secondary glazing that matched the sightlines of the original windows, maintaining the aesthetic appeal while providing modern performance benefits. The chosen glazing system offered significant improvements in thermal insulation, reducing heat loss and contributing to lower energy bills.

The installation was carried out with utmost care to avoid any damage to the historic features of the property. Our team worked efficiently to complete the project on schedule, resulting in enhanced comfort for both staff and customers. Post-installation, JE James reported a noticeable reduction in external noise and improved temperature regulation within the store, leading to a more pleasant shopping experience and increased customer dwell time.
